Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is an urli used for?

Traditionally it is filled with water and flower petals, often with floating tea lights or diyas, and placed at an entrance or on a centre table during festivals and celebrations. It is one of the simplest ways to make an entrance look done up for Diwali or a wedding.

Does it hold water without leaking?

Yes, it is a solid-bodied aluminium bowl. Empty it and wipe it dry after each use rather than leaving standing water in it, which leaves marks on the finish over time.

How many floating candles fit in it?

At 25 cm across, two to four floating tea lights sit comfortably along with a layer of petals. Leave enough open water between them so the petals have room to spread.

Can I use it outside the festive season?

Plenty of people keep it out year-round, either empty as a sculptural bowl or filled with potpourri and dried petals on a console or centre table.

Does it work as a gift?

Yes. It is a common pick for Diwali gifting, griha pravesh and housewarmings, weddings and corporate hampers - it needs no sizing, suits most interiors and arrives ready to present.
