Frequently Asked Questions

What does '7 chakra' tuning actually mean?

The tongues are tuned to a sequence of seven notes used in chakra-based sound practice, so you can move through them in order during a guided meditation instead of playing at random.

Do I need musical training to play it?

No. The tongues are tuned to notes that work together, so anything you tap sounds harmonious. Most people play it with their fingertips or soft mallets and get a pleasant sound in the first minute.

Who is it suitable for?

Children, adults and elders alike - there is no wrong note to hit, which makes it popular for family use, classrooms, therapy sessions and people who want to unwind without learning an instrument.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and keep it out of damp places - moisture is the main enemy of a steel drum. Tap with fingertips or soft mallets rather than anything hard, which can dent the tongues and shift the tuning.

Is this a good gifting option?

Yes. It is commonly picked for Diwali gifting, griha pravesh and housewarmings, wedding return gifts and corporate hampers - useful, traditional and easy to courier to another city.
