Frequently Asked Questions

Which cushion insert should I use with it?

It is made for a 18 x 18 inch cushion. Using a filler one to two inches larger than the cover is the usual trick for a full, rounded look - a same-size insert sits flatter and looks more tailored.

Will it clash with my existing cushions?

A multicoloured embroidered cushion usually works as the bridge piece - it picks up shades from the cushions around it. Pair it with one or two plain covers in a colour drawn from the embroidery rather than adding another busy print.

How should I wash it?

Gentle hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. Do not bleach or scrub the embroidery, wash it separately the first time, and dry it in the shade - direct afternoon sun fades hand-dyed threads faster than anything else.

Will the colours fade over time?

Keep the cushion out of direct sunlight, particularly on a sofa beside a window. The colours hold well indoors, but hand-finished dyes fade faster than machine-printed fabric under strong afternoon sun.

Does it work as a gift?

Cushion covers are among the more usable housewarming and wedding gifts - nothing to size, easy to pack and courier, and they suit most Indian living rooms whether the decor is ethnic or modern.

Handcrafted in India. As every piece is woven or embroidered by hand, slight variations in colour, texture and detailing are natural and make each cover unique.
