Will a regular agarbatti fit in the holder?

Yes. The carved hole is sized for the standard agarbatti sticks sold in India. Thicker dhoop sticks may need to be angled slightly, and the plate catches the ash as it falls.

Is the plate wide enough to catch the ash from a full stick?

At 10.16 cm square with a raised border, it catches the ash of a stick burning upright in the central hole. A stick placed at a sharp angle can still drop a little ash past the edge.

Does incense ash leave marks on the stone?

Light ash wipes off with a soft damp cloth. For stubborn residue, use warm water with a drop of mild soap and dry the piece immediately - avoid bleach, acidic cleaners and steel scrubbers.
