Will a regular agarbatti fit in the holder?

Yes. The carved hole is sized for the standard agarbatti sticks sold in India. Thicker dhoop sticks may need to be angled slightly, and the plate catches the ash as it falls.

Is the white section painted on?

No. Soapstone occurs naturally in both pale and dark shades, and the two tones are worked together by hand to form the symbol. The colours will not chip or fade the way paint does.

Does incense ash leave marks on the stone?

Light ash wipes off with a soft damp cloth. For stubborn residue, use warm water with a drop of mild soap and dry the piece immediately - avoid bleach, acidic cleaners and steel scrubbers.

Can I burn dhoop cones on it?

You can. We suggest placing the cone on a small metal disc or a piece of foil so that resin and soot do not settle into the carving, and always keep the piece on a heat-safe surface.

Will my piece look exactly like the photo?

Very close, but not identical. Every piece is carved and polished by hand from natural soapstone, so the shade, veining and depth of carving differ slightly from one piece to the next. These small differences are a mark of genuine handicraft, not a defect.
