Frequently Asked Questions

What is an akhand jyot or akhand diya?

It is a lamp kept continuously lit - through Navratri, a pooja period, or as a daily practice in a home mandir. The deep oil well and stable base are what let it burn for long stretches without frequent attention.

Is it suitable for an office or shop mandir?

Yes - the compact size is the main reason people pick it. It fits on a counter or a small wall-mounted mandir without crowding the other items.

What kind of wick works best?

A long cotton batti laid into the oil with the tip resting on the rim burns most steadily. For continuous lighting, keep spare battis on hand and top up the oil before it runs low.

Will the brass tarnish over time?

Yes, brass darkens naturally, especially near a flame or in humid weather. A quick clean with lemon and salt or a standard brass cleaner brings the shine back, and drying it properly slows the process.

Is this a good gifting option?

Yes. It is commonly picked for Diwali gifting, griha pravesh and housewarmings, wedding return gifts and corporate hampers - useful, traditional and easy to courier to another city.

Made in India. As these pieces are finished in small batches, slight variations in tone, finish and detailing are natural.
