Frequently Asked Questions

Do they protect against hot chai as well as cold glasses?

Both - the heat ring from a hot cup and the condensation ring from a cold glass are what mark a polished table. Brass handles both, and unlike cork or fabric it does not absorb the moisture.

How do I clean brass when it darkens?

Brass develops a patina with time, which is normal. Lemon and salt, tamarind paste or a brass cleaner such as Pitambari brings the shine back - rinse thoroughly and dry completely, since moisture left on brass is what accelerates tarnishing.

Will they scratch a wooden table?

Lift them rather than sliding them, as with any metal coaster. Felt pads stuck underneath are worth adding if your table is high-gloss or polished marble.

How many are in the set?

The set count is listed in the product specifications above. Four is the usual size for a family table, six if you host often.

Is it suitable for corporate or bulk gifting?

Yes, pieces like this are regularly ordered for Diwali client hampers and employee gifting, since they suit any household and need no personalisation.
